Every Memorial Day weekend, there are a series of 7 races spread over 2 days at Pineland Farms in New Gloucester Maine, offering fun for everybody from young kids to dogs to folks wanting to run for 10+ hours.
Here's my view of this year's race offerings.
Minimal construction and marginal seaworthiness meant maximum hilarity Labor Day Weekend, when nearly 40 teams tried to keep plywood-and-duct-tape vessels afloat during Key West's wacky Schooner Wharf Minimal Regatta.
Rules required each team to build a boat out of a four-by-eight-foot sheet of plywood, two eight-foot two-by-fours, a roll of duct tape, a pound of fasteners and epoxy paint.
As spectators cheered, team members navigated the vessels through a "sink or swim" course at Key West's Historic Seaport Sunday afternoon, trying to stay afloat the longest. Many got "that sinking feeling" soon after launching, but a few craft proved surprisingly seaworthy.
In what may be the worldâs only coast-to-coast conga line, revelers in Cuban attire congaed from the shores of the Atlantic Ocean to the Gulf of Mexico to celebrate Key Westâs colorful Cuban heritage.
Led by the Comparsa Key West dance troupe, the conga line proceeded down the mile-long Duval Street from the ocean to the gulf Friday evening.
Located just 90 miles from Cuba, Key West welcomed thousands of Cuban immigrants in the 1800s and was the site of a flourishing cigar industry. At the industryâs peak, the island boasted nearly 150 cigar factories whose workers produced 100 million hand-rolled cigars annually. The conga line and other weekend events recognize the vibrant culture and customs those immigrants brought with them.
Other Key West Cuban American Heritage Festival events include a Saturday night cigar dinner recognizing Key Westâs cigar-making legacy.
The very elegant and prestigious International Concorso weekend that tops them all. New prototypes and concept cars accompany a unique and rare classic car selection it’s all at the Villa d’Este on Lake Como. The tradition of style and class in automobiles is at its zenith here every year.
Winter time comes alive with the showing of automobiles and personalities at the place to be, sunny Florida. It’s everything and everyone automotive coming together at one great weekend extravaganza, a concours that’s achieved enormous national and international status.

During the Rapture on Saturday, I donned my Jesus Robes and did my weekly live streaming show on stickam - http://stickam.com/samproof . While I was like I got word on twitter that my âMay 21st, End of the Worldâ video was featured on ABC World News with David Muir.
So I started to watch the news in my Jesus Costume, while live streaming and commenting on the news.
And lo and behold Finally I was on it.

A collision of worlds when two African-American families from divergent socioeconomic backgrounds get together one weekend in Martha's Vineyard for a wedding.
We stopped by Osterman Beach, aka Hollywood Beach, this weekend as we were enjoying the lovely weather.
Not only were preparations being made to open the concession stand, but we noticed that something had happened to the old facilities building.
The old facilities building looks completely new on the outside as local artists have covered the exterior of the building with a beautiful bricolage (similar to those that decorate the Bryn Mawr and Foster underpasses).

When darkness falls on our quiet terraced streets, a darker, seedier side to the city emerges; drug dealing, prostitution and homelessness are aspects of Brighton that can all be encountered when sought after. With this as a backdrop, Saul Abraham, Callum Cameron and Henry Degnin took it upon themselves to conduct an investigation into the socio-cultural make up of our quaint seaside town. Brighton is a city that, to a degree, is built upon a reputation substantiated by façades. For the majority of people who do not actually permanently reside here, it is largely observed as a place of escape. Whether this means a weekend soaked in alcohol, a short break during the summer, or, more poignantly, a place to come and search for a new existence in a new environment, it is easy to get ‘lost.' It is this concept of escape that is so prominent in Brighton – twinned with the drab inclement seaside weather of the dark winter months – that really inspired them to document a side to the city that can be so easily surpassed.

On Tuesday 29th, March 2011 Wembley Stadium hosted the much awaited England v Ghana International friendly. With Ghana ranked 16th in the world by FIFA, 10 places below England and both teams having won their last two matches, this historic event promised to be an exciting game.
