The way we speak, move, laugh, treat others, feel, spend our money and everything else is a collective imitation of the world around us.
If you control a medium which shows examples of situations that could be imitated and make those situations look acceptable and innocent you will make people do things you want them to do, even if those situations are morally incorrect.
Violence, rape, suicide, materialism, sexual deprivation, discrimination and racism, among many other vices, have risen with the passing of the years and this is not a human instinct/nature problem but engineered to have an excuse to increase "security"(privacy invasion), "authoritative physical power"(police state), "taxes"(theft), "suppression of free speech"(no discontent allowed), and many other tyrannous methods to enslave humanity and have a particular group of families run everything.
Power centralization of any kind is bad.
Racism is still alive they just be concealing it....Listen to what's said, comment on what's said, tell a friend...You're about to encounter the truth in HIGHER Education...
In this unscripted video blog, Bernie takes advantage of some stolen keys to record a video on Karl's new computer. With Karl out of town, Bernie is sure that now will finally be his chance to inject some seriousness into the K&B saga, trying to introduce a conversation about racism and the state of race relations in America. Yeah, right! (Special guest star Shiloh Crawford III)
I did a show on the latent racist tendencies many of us have a few weeks ago, Beach Walk 707, talking about how deeply racism (and other "-isms") reside. Exploring a little further, if we resist the notion and feel guilty or go into denial, then it lingers. Maybe not feeling so burdened or responsible for things before our time can free us to notice when we are acting under the influence, and choose to act differently now.
Powerful, bombastic, and often graphic, The Crime of Korea is a bracing brief documentary of the Korean War. Most unusually, the Koreans are painted as tragic victims while accepted racism of the time is casually used (such as the term “jap”). This humanizing of the Koreans served one purpose: to make the communists look like monsters. The film is icily narrated by a hardened war correspondent who is outraged at the injustice to the Koreans, their beautiful cities, and their culture. Gorgeous shots of Korea, specifically Seoul, are peppered with images of brutality. A wonderfully produced film, The Crime of Korea is an enriching historical experience.
As desegregation was reaching a fever pitch in the 1950's, the progressive New York City board of Education implemented a progressive and (most importantly) aggressive integration policy. The heroic efforts of the administrators, parents, and teachers are captured in this significant historical documentary, Let Us Break Bread Together. A fascinating look at the history of racism in America, prejudice in schools and the value of school integration takes center stage. With racial prejudice and hatred threatening to explode at any moment, the NYC Board of Education was one of the few in the nation to step up to the challenge of safely and justly ending discrimination by integration in the New York City public Schools. Let Us Break Bread Together is a top notch historical document in the history of discrimination in American and the difficulty and triumph of school integration.

A supporter of Sarah Palin shouts the n-word in a reference to Barack Obama while Palin herself attempts to connect her opponent to "other countries where people are not free."
This time it's clear that Palin actually heard what the person said, because the racial slur broke her stride and caused her to stammer for a brief second before continuing in her sentence.
However, she did nothing to condemn her supporters' racism, and even seemed to egg it on by suggesting that Obama is not a real American but belongs in some other country, such as perhaps Iran.
Why can't black TV shows last on television?
Is this racism in the media or is it that mainstream America can't relate to "black" issues?
Should we be bailing out Wall St. companies?
How will it help us? Should we have to pay for it? Why is there no golden parachute for the homeowners?
Does it just allow companies make irresponsible decisions when the know they will be saved?
Is it ever ok to hit a woman? Can a woman bait a man into hitting her?

D-Day Minus One is a tremendous documentary that reveals the role of the lesser known Airborne Divisions the day before D-Day - when paratroops, gliders, and troop carriers landed in France behind enemy lines to prepare for the invasion of Normandy. A patriotic film that never falls into the usual traps of racism and jingoism, the film illuminates how these brave men engaged in heroic operations that prepared the way for, or worked in concert with, the epic invasion that next day. The footage of these troops being dropped behind enemy lines is excellent, and the narration stirring and moving. This vital exposure to the military experience in World War II is a fascinating walk through a momentous event in history. D-Day Minus One is unquestionably one of the best vintage World War II films ever made.
Birth of the B-29 is an astonishing World War II propaganda film fraught with anti-Japanese racism and pro-American production of the âsuper fortressâ B-29 bomber. The movie sets the Japanese up as an enemy known for their brutality, showing executions and other scenes of carnage. Then, the narration informs us that the way to win against such a ruthless foe is through air power, with Americaâs deadly new bombers. âThe wing is so light a girl could lift it with about the same effort as adjusting a flower in her hair!â - such is the wisdom of this antiquated film. The B-29 was larger, could carry more, and fly farther without needing to refuel than any previous war plane. The footage of the factory, where workers âfrom all walks of lifeâ labored together, shows laborers stopping to gaze at the skies and listen for the âmusicâ of the planes flying overhead. The scenes of mass scale machinery and production are breathtaking. This gorgeous footage and information, combined with the ...
To overcome racism requires a particular form of community conversation where everyone comes together to face real problems and creatively seek what's best for all. This show uses slides as well as conversation to explain how this works and how it can really happen. David Whitfield is guest host interviewing Jim. 9/16/08
A grab bag of vintage treasures! Harlem Revue from the 1930âs is a captivating gander at African American culture, oppression, music, and history from a turbulent time in the United States. Stupendous performers Bill Powers and the Brown Sisters, as well as several other black musicians, showcase their talents in a sonorous music presentation. But the film begins with dreadful displays of racism: two black men acting foolishly before climbing aboard a stage with insulting drawings of African Americans. But the music is sweet and enjoyable â a vintage vaudeville experience. As a historical relic for black history, it would be hard to top Harlem Revue which practically sums up the essence of the racial conflict in early 20th century America.

South Central Los Angeles is one of the toughest neighborhoods in America! At the age of 10 Eric was told that he would die on those very streets. Born with a devastating bone disease in both knees and with no access to decent medical services to correct the problem, he faced incredible odds to elevate himself to a brighter future. Daily he had to deal with racism, drug infested surroundings, gang violence, low socio-economic conditions, and a school system that said he would never graduate from school.

Part of the confusion concerning immigration in this country, stems from a lack of clarity about what drives illegal immigration. Mainstream media's aversion to the question, "WHY?" has further shaded and confused those of us who are not quick to, "take a side or rush to judgment," by separating the facts from the truth.
It would be misleading, irresponsible, and ultimately impossible to reconcile these entities in their entirety. So instead SuBRepublic did what it does best. Shed light on an element of truth less exposed. In this case it’s the "WHY?".
The short film shows Latino youth’s anger and betrayal felt, as a result of the proposed 4437 bill and the racism it represents. Special thanks to KPFK and Fidel of Divine Force Radio.
Produced by the oldest Jewish Service Organization in the world, An American Girl is a thought provoking and touching film that aims to expose 1950's antisemitism and racial discrimination in small town America. Cultural tensions were still swirling around Jewish people in America after the Holocaust, and this film aims to expose prejudice stereotypes and the roots of anti semitism. An adolescent small town girl decides to try an experiment to find out how prevalent anti-Semitism is in her small town. She pretends to be Jewish herself and keeps a diary outlining the attacks and prejudice that she suffers during her experiment. Later, she reads the diary out loud at a PTA meeting to bring the issue out in the open. An emotionally poignant film that dramatically documents the history of anti semitism, An American Girl is a stirring commentary that reveals the often hidden, subversive nature of racism in America.

Two University of Limerick students Matthew Organ and Daniel Murphy decide to do a video project on the causes of racism and discrimination in Limerick today, In their quest to seek the truth they uncover some interesting characters who paint a very different picture on the subject rather than the one found in the mainstream press. Their technique is very candid, very fair and helps to shine a light in the dark corners of that beautiful city.
Famous for his unforgettable portrayals of Dracula, Bela Lugosi (Plan 9 from Outer Space) is the undisputed king of wonderful “bad” cinema. The Mysterious Mr. Wong is crammed full of hilarious garbage, like Lugosi playing a Chinese sorcerer. There’s also a frightful amount of racist dialogue and general cultural insensitivity. The ludicrous plot revolves around the murderous Mr. Wong (played by Lugosi!) who is searching after the powerful coins of Confucius. But who cares about the story! Enjoying The Mysterious Mr. Wong is about appreciating the ridiculous oriental sets and wild leaps of logic, not to mention Lugosi hamming up every scene with his trademark facial expressions. A superb piece of filth, The Mysterious Mr. Wong is a masterpiece in its own way.

An entertaining blend of comedy and mystery, Doomed to Die stars the iconic Boris Karloff (Frankenstein) in a hilarious whodunit. In what would certainly be poor taste by today’s standards, Karloff appears as a stereotypical Asian man who’s a world renowned detective, Mr. Wong. Though the film alternates between being intentionally and unintentionally funny, Karloff is a joy to watch throughout, clearly enjoying the role. While trying to unravel the enigma of who killed a wealthy shipping magnate, Karloff sifts through many amusing characters and clues, utilizing goofy “secret” detective tricks along the way. Humorous because for its cast, dated racism, and ridiculous situations, Doomed to Die is an enjoyable good time.
