Comment s'y rendre:
Prendre la route vers Santana. Arrivé à Santana prendre la direction de Pico das Pedras et Pico Ruivo.
Après 14Km d'une route qui fait que monter et qui offre une superbe vue, vous arriverez au parking de Achada do Teixeira. Profitez du lieu pour visiter "O Homem Em Pé", tout prés du refuge des gardes forestiers. Un petit sentier à travers les genets et vous y emmène.
Le point de départ à pied pour s'y rendre au Pico Ruivo.
De l'aire de stationnement, il suffit de suivre un sentier bien signalé et bien chaussé qui démarre de la première colline et passe par les trois petits refuges.
Et finalement à la maison des gardes qui sert aussi de bar, commence la plus forte ascension au sommet du Pico Ruivo (plus haut sommet de Madère et le troisième du Portugal) qui est à une centaine de mètres plus haut. Profitez de la vue fantastique sur la quasi-totalité de l'île de Madère.
Avant de partir assurez-vous que le ciel est bleu, afin de profiter du panorama.
L’équipement de randonnée est conseillé, prendre des vêtements chauds, car la météo peut changer brutalement.
