Die Wikinger haben viele Götter. Anlässlich eines Festes in Flake schlüpfen Einwohner in die Rolle der Himmelsbewohner und spielen auf der Dorfbühne eine Geschichte nach, die sich einst zugetragen hat. In sagenhafter Vergangenheit wird die von allen geliebte Balder (gespielt von Ylvi) wie Dornröschen in einen tiefen Schlaf versetzt. Der Übertäter ist Loki (gespielt von Gilby), ein Gott, der in der Lage ist, ständig seine Gestalt zu ändern: mal ist er Loki selbst, mal eine Taube, im nächsten Moment ein Fisch im Wasser. Nur Hel (gespielt von Urobe), die Göttin der Unterwelt, weiß, wie man den bösen Zauber wieder von Balder lösen kann: Tränen von allen Lebewesen auf der Welt müssen gesammelt werden! Also machen sich Odin (gespielt von Halvar) und Thor, der Donnergott (gespielt von Wickie), auf die Reise, um die Aufgabe zu erfüllen. Doch wieder ist es Loki, der den Göttern übel mitspielt. Denn auch Loki müsste seine Tränen für Balder geben, ist aber dazu partout nicht bereit. Donnergott Thor ist in der Pflicht, den Gauner und seine einzigartige Fertigkeit, seine Gestalt blitzschnell zu wechseln, auszutricksen und Balder zu erlösen.
Wickie hat Mumps, und Halvar findet, dass er viel zu wehleidig ist und zu sehr verhätschelt wird. Als Halvar nun auch an „Ziegenpeter“ erkrankt, muss er sich allerdings sehr tapfer zeigen. Er veheimlicht seine Krankheit und versucht, sich selbst zu helfen.
