WMD, a 100 minute non-fiction film, explores this story with the findings of a gutsy, media insider-turned-outsider, former network journalist, Danny Schechter, who is one of America's most prolific media critics. Schechter says he "self-embedded" himself in his living room to monitor media coverage, by fastidiously tracking the TV coverage on a daily basis. He wrote thousands of words daily about the coverage for Mediachannel.org, the world's largest online media issues network, and then collected his columns, blogs and articles in a recently published book, EMBEDDED: Weapons of Mass Deception (Prometheus Books). He has continued his one-man investigation with WMD, a two-hour indie non-fiction film that asks the questions that his media colleagues refused to confront before, during and after the war. Featuring footage from inside Iraq, and inside the media, WMD tracks the media war through February 2004.

Musician Pete Holland gets into a bar fight while conducting an interview. The songs I write are pretty simple. They sound more like the past than the future. Some are a little bit old-timey. Most are about stuff from my life, but with some hyperbole, metaphor, and abused liberties. Some are fiction, most are non-fiction-ish. Insert current hybrid genre with "folk" in the name here. I'll avoid saying it sounds like this guy meets that guy. Because I was there when those two guys met, and this was not the sound. However, I will tell you that these are my favorite guys, in an order I thought of: Pete Steinberg, Nat Keefe of Hot Buttered Rum String band, Tim Seely, Tim Bluhm, Mother Hips, Patrick Park, Uncle Tupelo, Elliott Smith, The Jayhawks, Ryan Adams, Radiohead, Neil Young, Bob Dylan. Never been married. Born 1977 in Northern California. Live in 2004 in Southern California. I like to run, swim, camp, ski, watch football, cook, eat, and read, non-fiction mostly. I won't list TV as something I like to do, but I do watch it, at least a little almost everyday. I work as a bartender at the place you always drive by, but have never gone in.
THE MONEY MASTERS is a 3 1/2 hour non-fiction, historical documentary that traces the origins of the political power structure that rules our nation and the world today. The modern political power structure has its roots in the hidden manipulation and accumulation of gold and other forms of money. The development of fractional reserve banking practices in the 17th century brought to a cunning sophistication the secret techniques initially used by goldsmiths fraudulently to accumulate wealth. With the formation of the privately-owned Bank of England in 1694, the yoke of economic slavery to a privately-owned "central" bank was first forced upon the backs of an entire nation, not removed but only made heavier with the passing of the three centuries to our day. Nation after nation, including America, has fallen prey to this cabal of international central bankers.

Produced by Active Cultures, the vernacular theatre of Maryland, Petri Dish Circus is a play loosely based off of the classic non-fiction novel Microbe Hunters by Paul Henry de Kruif. Much like the original book first published in 1926 that describes 12 historical milestones in science, Active Cultures reenacts “the daring-do of Louis Pasteur in his Parisian lab, the Scotch fortitude of Ronald Ross as he travels through disease-stricken Africa, and the melancholy saga of Walter Reed as he battles Yellow Jack in Cuba” — all with a healthy dose of humor.
In this episode we interview Mary Resing, artistic director for Active Cultures, who talks about Microbe Hunters as inspiration for theatre and her whimsical, and slightly pointed, approach to portraying the women featured in de Kruif’s work. Excerpts from the actual performance are also featured.
