(1945) Bringing a herd of cattle to Dave Crockett, Billy halts before going through the pass where many herds have been rustled. His suspicions are correct as there are two men after Crockett's packing plant which will be theirs if Crockett fails to fill his beef contract. Lara, Jakov i Zlaja se vraćaju u Split, presretni što je njihova obitelj opet na okupu. Odlaze se pomoliti u crkvu, nesvjesni da su pod budnim okom tajanstvene žene u crnom. Lara se penje na crkveni toranj kako bi u miru razgovarala s Bogom, a za njom dolaze Zlaja i Jakov. Zlaji ispada Larin medaljon, a žena u crnom ga uzima. Cijela obitelj je presretna zbog Zlajinog povratka.

Socijalna radnica obavještava Laru i Nikšu da će nažalost morati predložiti sudu da se Zlaja privremeno oduzme iz Larine skrbi.Lara odbija predati Zlaju Jakovu, usprkos inzistiranju Nele i socijalne radnice. Jakov odluči sam popričati s Larom no ona se boji da će zauvijek ostati bez Zlaje. Nakon što ju socijalna radnica urazumi, Lara predaje Zlaju Jakovu no osjeća se užasno zbog toga.
