This is a sample of me (Jordan Bledsoe) teaching first year first semester Japanese at BYU. The sample is taken from the second week of class, so they know very little Japanese. The teaching method used in this sample is that of Eleanor Jorden (the author of Japanese the Spoken Language). I would describe her method as similar to the audiolingual method but with a special emphasis on task-based and context-focused learning. However, at UNCC, I use a much more communicative approach with more pair work as it fits the Genki textbook better.
