Manolo Vazquez was born on 21st August 1930. He took the alternativo in the Real Maestranza de Sevilla on 6th October 1951 with his brother Pepe Luis Vazquez as his padrino and Antonio Bienvenida as his testigo. These same toreros confirmed the alternativo the following day in the Plaza de las Ventas in Madrid. He retired in 1968 after participating in more than 300 corridas. After his death in August 2005 the mayor of Sevilla commisioned a sculpture by Luis Alvarez Duarte which was completed in 2009 and is now situated in front of the Real Maestranza de Sevilla.
