2011 might be the year that the Walkmen finally hit the big time. Their latest release “Lisbon” has been lauded by music scribes everywhere (five out of five stars from all the British monthlies) and in the driving garage rocker “Angela Surf City” the band have a track as powerful as the Strokes’ “Modern Age”, albeit 10 years after that band kicked off the New York garage rock revival. For their Letterman appearance in January the Walkmen played a more subdued song “Juveniles”, the leadoff track from their awesome 2010 release.

The collaboration between Wanda Jackson and Jack White continues apace with a series of TV appearances to promote “The Party Ain’t Over”. They played “Funnel of Love” on Conan on January 25th, and “Shakin’ All Over” on Letterman on January 20th. As we note in the Vlog, we’d love to see them perform their cover of Dylan’s “Thunder On The Mountain” on their next TV slot.
