[English & Arabic] Shaykh Abu-Amr Abdul-Kariim al-Hajuuri answers questions regarding the Daarul Hadiith Center of Knowledge in Dammaaj, Yemen. Translated by Mohamed Shabana al-Masri. Recorded August of 2006. Dammaaj is the birthplace of the reviver of the Sunnah, the Great Scholar, Shaykh Muqbil ibn Haadi al-Waadi'ee, rahimahullaahu ta'aala. The Shaykh set up an institute of knowledge, that by Allaah's will has changed the face of Yemen. Before the dawah of the Shaykh, Yemen was plagued by tashayyu in the north, tasawwuf in the south, and hizbiyyah widespread. Now by Allaah's grace the dawah of Ahlu-Sunnah can be found in all parts in Yemen, stronger in some areas than others. The institute in Dammaaj started as just a small masjid made of mud, then as the students grew in number, a bigger masjid was built adjacent to the Shaykh's house. Later an even larger masjid was built, which is now used as a library. An even bigger masjid was then constructed, and now that masjid has been expanded. The latest masjid is very large, and is active day and night with classes where thousands of students memorize Qur'aan and hadiith. At night time, some of the single students sleep in the masjid. The Daarul Hadiith Center is currently run by Shaykh Muqbil's primary successor, Shaykh Yahyaa ibn Alii al-Hajuuri.
