It has been questioned why Walt Disney built the castle relatively small (it only rises 75 feet above the moat), but he actually had a very good reason. He recalled that the tyrants of Europe built huge, imposing castles in order to intimidate the peasents. Disney wanted his castle to be friendly, so it was built on a smaller scale.
When you are walking through the castle away from the statue, and you pass under the Disney Family Seal and you walk a few more steps until you're almost out of the castle, look down and there's a gold spike (survey marker) in the ground.
