Adam is rescued from an ambush by Gerald Eskith, a lawman who is on a mission to Virginia City. Eskith is looking for a man who happens to be married to a close friend of the Cartwrights. By the time Adam realizes what Eskith's true agenda is, he discovers it may be too late to save someone's life.
