Ariel Aparicio's latest concoction and single, "Lucille" is the intricately woven tale of two hapless souls succumbing to the relentless weight of the world, while at the same time discovering their own strength in Lucille- a figurehead unwilling to share their fate. Instantly apparent from the first hook, "Lucille" is masterfully influenced by the irrefutable genius of acts like Prince and '90s alt-rockers Elastica, yet still allows room for hints of T-Rex, the New York Dolls, and even Toni Basil's "Hey Mickey." Ariel is without question at the top of his game here, making it all too obvious that his works should never be assimilated into the endless stream of mindless cookie-cutter rock saturating the scene today. Never one for subtlety, Ariel instead opts to beat the listener over the head with his strong song-writing and vocals, catchy funk-influenced guitar (provided by Ariel's long-time lead player Steve Dawson), and layer upon layer of subtle nuances that seemingly fall together in perfect harmony to create a lush and complex rock 'n roll landscape. The hot new video features Khalid Rivera, drag queen Dallas Dubois, RingoStyleBaby and singer Ayanna Williams.
