The lower back supports the upper body and allows the body to turn, twist, bend, lift and walk. It plays a very important role in mobility. The lower back takes a lot punishment, as we tend to overuse or misuse it.
It is estimated that in the United States four out of every five adults will suffer from lower back pain at some point in their lives. It is responsible for more doctor visits than most other common ailments.
While on the subject of lower back pain, it must be remembered that the actual severity of the pain is not proportionate to the extent of injury or damage that causes it.
