The 70s in Britain were a nightmare of "stagflation", a totally discredited "consensus" that socialism could not be rolled back and abuse of power by Trade Unions. The State had monopolies on all Energy, Transport, Telecoms and the Motor industry. We were the "sick man" of Europe.
