34 ferry ships are coming in every day at the German Harbor Travemünde. They keep running their big diesel engines to provide the ship with power when the ferry is going to be discharged. The solution that has to be found: plug in the ships into an electricity socket and turn off the engines. This effect energy cost reduction as well as lower co2 emissions. Because there are no international power supply norms, the land charging system has to be very flexible. It has to be possible to switch between different voltage as well as different kind of plugs.
