I get questions all the time on what the difference is between major and minor, and for that matter all the other strange chord types there is out there. So while we have now learned some major and minor chords its worth looking at getting the concept of chord qualities in your head. A chord quality what we use to try and separate out the different sounds chords create. There are many types of chords, Major, Minor, Major 7th, Minor 7th, Dominant 7th, Suspended etc The names may sound confusing but just think of them as different flavours of a chord. Dominant sounds different to Major. In this guitar lesson i will give you a method of picturing these chords types so that you can understand why they exist and hopefully stop the usual reaction when seeing a chord like C# major 7th #5!
