A huge thanks to everyone who made this trip possible. It meant a lot to Dorie and I, but Jake appreciated it the most. At ten years old, Jake has had the unique experience of success in one of the few sports where you stand alone against an opponent. Therefore his victories (and losses) are his own and no one else can take credit or blame for his effort. Some of the most confident people you'll ever meet have experienced that, or something similar in their lives.
