Sora goes to Traverse Town to ask Cid, a gummi expert, what the gummi blocks they found were for. In return, he asks them to deliver a book to Merlin for him. They enter a strange empty house where he lives and meet Merlin soon afterwards. When they leave they find Riku who seems to be acting strange outside. Sora talks to Cid and the others and explain to him who Maleficent, a dark witch who controls the heartless, really is. She is the one that had the heartless swallow their home world. Meanwhile, Maleficent tricks Riku into thinking Sora left him and Kairi for Donald and Goofy. Afterwards, Cid explains that the gummi blocks were blocks that help them navigate to other worlds.
