This is an original piece for piano and electronics. This is the first movement named after the constellation, Cassiopeia. For the process of writing this piece I wrote out several constellations on a piece of tracing and then laid that on top of a grid with random pitches from the chromatic scale and what ever note the stars of the constellations fell on, those would be the notes that I would work with to write the piece. For this movement, Cassiopeia, I tried to capture the mythology behind the constellation. In the mythology Cassiopeia is sentenced to spend eternity in a chair spinning in the sky, most of her time being spent upside down.
