Tony Quan aka TEMPT1 was a graffiti artist in LA. He was paralyzed with ALS in 2003. His method of communicating was via a $15k+ eyetracker system that allowed him to type; TEMPT1's drawing career seemed over.
Enter our speaker, the artist Zach Lieberman (http://thesystemis.com/). Working with collaborators he built a $50 eyetracker called the EyeWriter (http://thesystemis.com/projects/eyewriter/). TEMPT1 was able to use this to draw again. His digital graffiti twas projected on buildings by the EyeWriter team live.
Zach does not work a lone. He builds his art as though he were in a laboratory. For this collaboration he teamed up with members of Free Art and Technology (FAT), OpenFrameworks, the Graffiti Research Lab, and The Ebeling Group communities. You can help this project continue on Kickstarter if you contribute by 10/19 (http://bit.ly/tempt1).
