Beltaine has a special meaning. The meaning is particularly special for those of us who have spent too much time in our lives hearing about "God's will", "God's time," or "God's higher plan." Beltaine is not only the celebration but the actual fulfillment of the promise made at Samhain! Remember, at Samhain, the god died, but there was a promise of his return. He was born at Yule, and at Imbolc and Ostara we celebrated his growth, but at Beltaine we celebrate his coming of full age. In ancient societies, June brides became soemthign special because it followed may when the deities married. And so, if Ostara was a Bar Mitzvah, Beltaine is the wedding feast. It is worth noting that in many traditional societies, it was at the wedding that the young man stepped forth on his own, and that is what we have here. But there is also the fulfillment. The god's will is our happiness and health. The god's time is when it is fulfilled. And the higher plan is for all of us to learn, prosper and grow. And that is Beltaine's gift for us. Blessed Be!
