The woman previously known as the D-C Madam hanged herself on her mother’s Florida property Thursday. Deborah Jean Palfrey was recently convicted of running a high-end prostitution ring for some of Washington’s elite politicians and businessmen. The 52-year-old was also found guilty of money laundering, racketeering and mail fraud. The D-C Madam would have faced a maximum 55-year prison term as determined at the upcoming July 24th sentencing, but Palfrey was quoted more than once saying that she would not let herself go to federal prison. In fact, she told a writer that was helping her put together a book about the escort scandal that she would commit suicide before returning to jail.
