Located at the base of the Barron Gorge just 20 mins drive North/west of the Cairns CBD Lake Placid is a large natural lake formed by the Barron River.

There is a recreation area here with a cafe and bar as well as canoes and other water sports equipment for hire. Being so close to Cairns, Lake Placid is a favourite spot for local families on the weekends as well as kayaking enthusiasts.
