The best way to save them is by saving their habitat in the wild. When you visit zoos ask them if they are accredited & if they participate in any of the Species Survival Plans though the AZA? Also ask them if they support the saving of the animals & their natural habitats in the wild? This baby was born is a good accredited facility & will never be a part of the exotic pet trade & she will never be part of the performing animal acts. When she was healthy enough she was transferred to live with an orangutan surrogate mother & did not remain under the care of humans any longer than it was needed for her health. In the wild orangutans stay with their mothers for 8 years so this baby orangutan needed an orangutan surrogate mother and got one.
