June 11, 2012 - Report on the Toledo Police Department - Chief Derrick Diggs Derrick Diggs has risen through the ranks over his 35 year career with the Toledo, Ohio Police Department and was appointed Chief of Police on October 21, 2011. Chief Diggs developed the Toledo Police Department's Mountain Bike Patrol Unit and the Gang Task Force Unit. In addition, he successfully implemented and monitored several Community Oriented Policing programs and strategies for the Toledo Police Department. He also successfully developed and implemented Neighborhood and Park Watch programs for the City of Toledo. Chief Diggs holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science and Sociology from Adrian College and a Masters Degree in Public Administration from The University of Toledo. He is a graduate of the Polic e Law Enforcement Executive College and the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy.
