A hard-hitting documentary that focuses on the residents of a suburb of Medellin, the second biggest city in Columbia after Bogota. Unlike other suburbs of the city its young people are holding out against the militia, who want to take over and force their ‘rule’ on the people. Thirteen-year-old Carlitos takes us on a journey of his suburb armed only with a statue of the Holy Mother to which the residents pray, confess their sad stories of the killings of their husbands and children but also let us know something of their hopes and dreams.
