Apple rolled out their ipads in downtown Austin, Texas at SXSW 2011 via an improvised store that literally sprang up over night. The line stretched all down Congress Avenue and around the next block.
The http://live.twit.tv crew was there netcasting with Lisa Bettany and Brian Brushwood, there were numerous startups working the line with their apps like whrrl, Zaarly, Heat Tracker, and others.
The Apple store workers who came from all over Texas ran down the line giving everyone high fives.
