Foodie friends gathered and shared a Julie and Julia dinner, hosted by Doug Tommie. Doug opened his home and his volume of Mastering the Art of French Cooking. The main course was Boeuf Bourguignon, a La Julia Child. ummm....ummmm...sighs were heard over the tables. Deidre and Tony Kerr contributed roasted potatoes and potato pie with onions, mushrooms and cream in a pastry. Terry and Marilyn Blankenship rounded out the menu with roasted sugar snap peas brushed with olive oil, shallots and fresh thyme. Etta and Bob Britt baked Julia's favorite dessert: chocolate almond torte plus an Italian creme cake. Before dinner these foodie friends, mostly Realtors, enjoyed French cheeses: Brie and Port Salute, fresh figs and a variety of French wines, while visiting on a shady deck. This crew plus Valerie Roberts, and Pam and Eric Grasman want to master the art of French cooking together.
