Wissenschaftler haben deshalb erstmals ein serioeses Ranking zu den sozialen und individuellen Gefahren der verbreitetesten Rauschmittel erstellt. Und ueberraschenderweise sind einige der gefaehrlichsten Substanzen vollkommen legal... In jeder Kultur gab und gibt es Drogen. Die berauschende Wirkung von Alkohol, Mohn oder Hanfpflanzen ist nicht erst seit gestern bekannt. Doch die negativen Folgen des Drogenkonsums - Sucht, Beschaffungskriminalitaet und Prostitution - haben in den letzten 50 Jahren dramatische Ausmasse angenommen. Viele Drogen sind deshalb weltweit geaechtet und verboten worden. Andere werden dennoch geradezu kultisch verehrt. Doch auf welcher Grundlage? Eine Wissenschaftlergruppe um den Pharmakologen David Nutt hat sich daran gemacht, Fakten und Fiktion zu unterscheiden und die zwanzig am weitesten verbreiteten Drogen auf ihr tatsaechliches Schadenspotential zu untersuchen. Im Mittelpunkt stehen hierbei das Gesundheitsrisiko fuer den Konsumenten, die Suchtgefahr und die Auswirkungen auf die Gesellschaft.
