The Concert for Autism Speaks featuring Lionel Richie, held at the Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach, Florida on March 30, 2008, raised $1.8 million to benefit Autism Speaks. The beautiful interior of Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago Club served as the backdrop for the exciting fundraising concert headlined by Grammy Award-winning singer and songwriter, Lionel Richie.
The sold-out event was hosted by renowned journalist and author Tom Brokaw who introduced speakers Donald Trump, an event co-chair along with wife Melania, followed by Florida Governor Charlie Crist, and Suzanne and Bob Wright, the co-founders of Autism Speaks. The audience was on their feet for much of the concert that featured Richie's most beloved and acclaimed hits, both as a solo performer and as a member of the Commodores.
