The reason I have "(Part 1)" in the title is because this is the battle you fight as your character's guardian beast before they join your party. Part 2 is when you have to fight him and it's all very early in the game, so don't expect any big numbers or anything. I was just surprised to see myself fighting AS my guardian beast. That's new.
