In November 2015, Nuno Vasco Rodrigues (researcher from MARE-IPLeiria and Flying Sharks' Science Officer), Jorge Fontes (researcher from MARE-Azores and IMAR-DOP) and Áthila Bertoncini (researcher from UNIRIO and Instituto Meros do Brasil) went on a scientific expedition to São Tomé (Gulf of Guinea, West Africa). The main objective of the expedition was to document the rich coastal fish diversity of the region, using underwater video and photography, for the production of the first illustrated guide of the coastal fish species of São Tomé. Nevertheless, this expedition provided much more discovers than researchers anticipated. A large amount of scientific data was also collected, is now being analyzed, and will be published soon. Em Novembro de 2015, Nuno Vasco Rodrigues (investigador MARE-IPLeiria e Science Officer da Flying Sharks), Jorge Fontes (investigador MARE-Açores e IMAR-DOP) e Áthila Bertoncini (investigador UNIRIO e Institutos Meros do Brasil) fizeram uma expedição científica a São Tomé (Golfo da Guiné, costa oeste Africana). O principal objectivo da expedição foi documentar a rica diversidade de peixes costeiros da região, utilizando a fotografia e vídeo subaquático, para a produção do primeiro guia ilustrado de espécies de peixes costeiros de São Tomé. No entanto, esta expedição mostrou-se muito mais interessante do que os investigadores previam. Uma grande quantidade de dados foi recolhida, está agora a ser analisada, e será publicada em breve.
