It is a very hard exercise to master but with the assistance of a TRX suspension trainer we can make it a little easier to get use to. The reason being unlike the normal squat, the pistol squat requires a phenomenal amount of balance. This means that there is a greater recruitment of stabiliser muscles. I use it in my boot camps and personal training sessions for this reason and it doesn’t stress the lower back as normal squats can.
