A rare look at the darker side of the nineteen forties, That Brennan Girl follows the dramatic story of a young woman who makes unethical choices. Following the example of her hapless self-absorbed mother, little Ziggy Brennan begins hustling men at a young age. Ziggy runs with a crowd of societal subversives, until she meets a good natured farm boy and falls in love, and Ziggy cleans up a bit. But the young man goes off to fight in World War II, just as Ziggy learns she’s pregnant! With her man absent and life seeming to be too much to handle, Ziggy regresses back to her old habits. That Brennan Girl deals with subject matter scarcely ever touched upon in the forties: teen pregnancy, child abandonment, teen angst, women’s issues, and promiscuity.
