Dr. Raphael Tsu, provided the basic theory of negative differential conductance applicable to the man-made Superlattice introduced by L. Esaki and R. Tsu 40 years ago. Two years later, he obtained the tunneling through the double barrier structure, the basic unit of the supperlattice structure. These results formed the for-runner of today's Meta-Materials and Nano-electronics.
