Mixed Martial Arts or MMA is a demanding sport; fighters put their bodies on the line and they endure a lot of punishment when they fight. Because of the tough demands in fighting in MMA, fighters go through workouts that are tough as well. MMA workouts are designed to be intense because fighters need to develop good conditioning and stamina for them to last long in MMA fights. To design an effective MMA workout program, one should be able to see and analyze the different aspects of the sport. The main thing to consider is that an MMA workout program must be able to improve the output of fighters during training and especially during the actual MMA fight. Traditional styles of workouts are not sufficient enough to be used for MMA. Workouts must be made and designed specifically for MMA and it should be able to improve an MMA fighter's power, strength, flexibility, coordination, timing, balance and endurance. However, these things must be improved specifically to aid a fighter in striking, clinching, grappling, etc.
