In Massachusetts, I would say youre basically crazy if you dont have an attorney represent you in a probation violation. As a matter of fact, very often, you have an absolute right to be represented and if you cant afford an attorney youre indigent and the court will assign you somebody. But, the fact is, even if thats not the case, and you dont qualify for court-appointed counsel, you've got to have an attorney thats experienced in dealing with probation violation hearings. Theyre theyre animals in and of themselves, different from other criminal cases. And, without that representation, youre probably going on a voyage. Im Sam Goldberg, lead counsel for criminal defense matters, at Altman and Altman in Cambridge, Massachusetts. I have twenty-five years of experience. If youre in trouble and you need someone in your corner, who cares, and will fight for you, give me a call.
