The Green and Tan nations have broken off peace talks. There is no choice but to prepare for a full-scale battle. Only after storming the shores of the enemy homeland, traversing dense jungles, and securing war-torn cities does final victory await. Dive back into the trenches!

Plot:
In the sequel to the best-selling Army Men and Army Men 3D, you lead the Green Army in a fierce battle against your nemesis: the Tan. Carefully guide your troops through a deadly barrage of enemy fire in over 16 missions covering five different terrains. Only the best military minds will prevail in this fiery ground infantry battle. There are plenty of weapons at your disposal: blast away with the howitzer, shred plastic with the twin .50-caliber machine gun, or silently stab the enemy with your sharp bayonet. Never before has plastic warfare reached this size and scale.
Summary:
Army Men: World War (or Army Men: Operation Meltdown in Europe) is a third-person shooter (real-time tactical RTS in the Microsoft Windows version). It is a video game developed and published by The 3DO Company for PlayStation and Microsoft Windows. This game began its own subseries, the Army Men World War.
This game focuses solely on combat in the Plastic World, and most missions are based on World War II. Some fans consider the World War games to be prequels to the main games (Army Men, Army Men II, and Toys in Space).
It was released for PlayStation and PC in 2000; however, the two versions of the game are very different from each other.
PlayStation Version:
The PlayStation version is a third-person shooter similar to Army Men 3D with a heavy emphasis on fast-paced combat and critical thinking. Unlike Sarge's Heroes, the player can use vehicles during the campaign and has a more realistic and gritty tone than many of the Army Men games.
PC Version:
The PC version plays more like its predecessors (Army Men, Army Men II, and Toys in Space) but with more focus on soldier management.
This version of the game was often considered the best Army Men multiplayer by the fanbase for its robust gameplay that allowed for many strategic options.

Whether you’re dodging bazooka shots, melting attacking infantry with your flamethrower, or leading your squad into the enemy bunker, you must do whatever it takes to bring down the evil Tan army.
Shoot machine guns, launch mortars, plant mines, throw grenades, fire bazookas, and then finish the enemy off with the flamethrower. But you need heavy artillery or extra mobility?: Jump in a tank, jeep, cargo truck, or halftrack. Melt infantry, blow vehicles into pieces, and shatter the plastic enemy with your armored vehicle.
Dynamic 'Combat Cam' can switch instantly between 3rd and 1st person perspectives, allowing for greater control during the heat of battle.

In Army Men and Army Men 3D, the commander of the Tan army, Plastro, invades Green territory. Sarge fights against the Tan forces and, at the end of the game, discovers a strange portal, which he enters, ending up in a gigantic kitchen. The game Army Men 2 begins with a massive Tan force, including Plastro himself, chasing him through the portal. Major Mylar betrays Plastro, destroys the portal upon entering, and takes control of the army and Tan territories when Plastro is presumed missing.
Army Men II is a real-time tactics (RTS) game developed and published by The 3DO Company for Microsoft Windows and Game Boy Color. The game differs from the first installment in that it features battles in both the "Real World" and the "Plastic World." It was also the first to introduce the concept of portals between the Real World and their world (Plastic World), a theme that was expanded upon in later games. It is the sequel to both PC Army Men and Army Men 3D for PlayStation 1 (which had the same storyline as Army Men 1).
