We live in a "sound-bite" society that exalts rugged individualism. Rather than accept this as the only reality, Alexie Torres-Flemming is working with the youth the South Bronx to live as a community and work for social justice, housing reform, and environmental reform. Alexie, creator and director of Youth Ministries for Peace and Justice, has worked for 15 years helping youth to see their neighborhood as God's kingdom and to realize that church isn't just a place you go to learn about getting to another place (heaven). Spencer Burke interviews Alexie, who describes how she grew up in Catholicism and a social teaching tradition. But that young people were often relegated to the choir or dance or basketball teams, and not engaged in important work of social change in their community. The Youth Ministries for Peace and Justice gives youth a place to impact their neighborhood and to integrate their faith with their daily lives-not just entertaining them, or keeping them busy, but engaging them in the ...

What's made this once obscure market more popular for adventurists is the preserved rituals of indigenous Mayan religion mixed with the colorful commerce of the market vendors. It's a fascinating blend of modern Catholicism & local customs seen practiced every Sunday & Thursday when traders converge from all over the country to sell their wares. A definite must see if you're visiting nearby Lake Atitlan or Antigua. ChiChi is approximately 87 miles northwest of Guatemala City.

An unconventional look and tour around two of Cebu city’s historic landmarks. Magellan Cross and the 400-year-old Basilica de Stn. Nino. These historic landmarks mark the beginning of Catholicism in the Philippines and are situated right next to City Hall in downtown Cebu city where the President of the Philippines herself holds office whenever she is in town. Yet despite the uninterrupted strength of the Cebuanos’ adopted Catholic faith, and the ambivalence of the country’s leaders, poverty still dogs every corner of this city and indeed every corner of the Philippines. This video is a brief observation about some of the people inhabiting the downtown area who for whatever the reason, have become homeless and often go hungry. Ian MacGregor, an energetic Scotsman was so moved by the condition of these people he began handing out 50 or more meals each day sometimes 6 days a week in early 2008. Kit Cotter's song 'Luz D'el Mondo' accompanies this video and reminds me that the light of the ...
Once owned by the Royal Family, Charnock Hall in Preston was home to a catholic priest by the name of Robert Charnock. In the 17th century Catholicism was frowned upon in Britain and many masses were conducted here in secrecy. Current owners and past residents have witnessed priestly figures and nun-like transfigurations. Could the child-like feelings and giggling that the crew experience be the work of ghosts of small children that used to live here? The team bravely conduct a séance where Rick is overcome with physical pains and tingling.
In this wide-ranging discussion you'll discover how Donna's faith and character were formed by her birth mother and a revered church mother of her Pentecostal past. You'll, also hear about the lessons she learned as a child, her courtship with Alex, her often painful journey into Catholicism -- and the other mother in her life, who, at times of great danger, shared with Donna the pains and agony of motherhood. A response to zkueker88 and his video titled "Is the Roman Catholic Church the One True Church?"
Answer; the Catholic is not the true church; Peter is not the first Pope; Peter is not the rock on which the church is founded, No but his rock solid (perception) of the true deity of Jesus Christ is what the one and only true church is built on; Jesus Christ is the rock and foundation of the true church of Christ (God).
http://lukeford.net/blog/?p=3118 Historically, we have tended to benefit from niche businesses, such as banking during the primacy of Catholicism, when it was prohibited to Catholics, and entertainment during the primacy of Protestants, when they looked down on such businesses. We do tend to be far more visible, disproportionately to our numbers.
Is Catholicism a valid expression of Christianity? Is there such a thing as an "Evangelical Catholic", or is that expression an oxymoron? Should Evangelicals and Catholics cooperate in evangelistic efforts? Do Evangelicals and Catholics rely on the same source of authority? Do both believe and proclaim the same Gospel?

Richard Bennett spent twenty-one years as a RC priest in Trinidad, WI. After a serious accident in 1972, he began to study seriously the Bible. After fourteen years of contrasting Catholicism to Biblical truth, he was convicted by the Gospel message. In 1986, he saw that justification is not being inwardly just as Rome taught, but being accepted in Christ. He was then saved by God's grace alone, and formally left the Roman Catholic Church and its priesthood. He has founded an evangelistic ministry to Catholics called "Berean Beacon." The Conclusion. This is the Unveiling of Roman Catholicism, part 7 of 7. The official Roman Catholic doctrine of salvation is that the grace of God is infused into a baby at baptism -- making him/her justified before God. This justification can be lost through sin and must be regained by repeated participation in the many sacraments found in the Roman Catholic Church. As long as the Roman Catholic Church continues to assert its own authority and bind its people to “another gospel,” it is the spiritual duty of all true Christians to oppose Roman Catholic doctrine with biblical truth and to call all Catholics to true salvation.

Italy travel: Rome. Vatican Museum priceless artwork. Some of the presentations are kind of rough, "Passion of the Christ" rough, for our "G" rated Perillo Tours Familia. Some art looks more like stills from an "R" rated medieval battle movie, as opposed to something you would expect to see in the high holy house of Catholicism. (Must be this untrained eye's assumptions.) Still, one awe-inspiring series of hallways! The Vatican Museum: it just goes on and on. Lastly, President Richard M. Nixon presented Pope Paul VI with some "rocks" collected from our moon. Moon "rocks" indeed. The video shows no perspective of the display, unfortunately, but the audible laughter plus the background comment "The lint in my pocket is bigger" should give you an idea of how small these moon specks really are. (You can view this video, and other travel videos in full-size and near-DVD quality, travel stills and more at www.jpmeyer.com).

Cardinal Secretary of State, Eugenio Pacelli (later to become Pope Pius XII) signs the Concordat between Nazi Germany and the Vatican at a formal ceremony in Rome on 20 July 1933. Nazi Vice-Chancellor Franz von Papen sits at the left, Pacelli in the middle, and the Rudolf Buttmann sits at the right. (Photo on http://www.nobeliefs.com/nazis.htm )
The Concordat effectively legitimized Hitler and the Nazi government to the eyes of Catholicism, Christianity, and the world.
