Guests are Renee Guild the Chef/Owner of The Picnic Guild, and Chef Molly Holbrook of Organicopia. The theme of the episode is around food and sustainability. The idea for “The Picnic Guild” was born from Renée and her family’s experiences picnicking throughout the world, particularly in Italy, New Zealand and the Sierra Nevadas, and Renee’s love of cooking fresh ingredients to consume “al fresco”. Coupled with the sense that others would appreciate having beautiful picnics waiting for them at the wineries of the Santa Cruz Mountains, she created a business designed to enhance the enjoyment of the region’s landscape and beautiful wines. Molly Holbrook, Executive Chef/Owner of Organicopia graduated from the prestigious California Culinary Academy a Cordon Bleu accredited institution in 2005. Chef Holbrook has had a passion for cooking and entertaining since she was very young. At the age of 24 her culinary journey took off, working as a private chef and caterer. She has dazzled her guests with creative and delicious cuisine and is quickly gaining a reputation around the Bay Area for her genuine hospitality and love of her craft. Organicopia was rated the # 1 private chef and gourmet catering company in the Bay Area. Silicon Valley Technology, Art, Green & Sustainability talk show with host and Executive Producer Heather Durham. Episode guests are from the artist studio “5 Feet From the Moon.” Artists Katrina King and Dominic Boinich have had amazing careers on their own, which I have been following the past 5 years and now as a couple they started the art studio “5 Feet From the Moon”. Katrina I met at “Sunset’s House of Innovation” when she had an art fire pit that she made from metal installed in the house in 2006. Dominic worked managing a metal art studio owned by a famous architect locally. (Can you guess who that architect is?). Together they are now creating some amazing work in Santa Cruz! Their specialty and main focus is concrete and metal, and they design, build and create custom concrete countertops, fireplace surrounds and furniture. When not working in concrete they usually are working in metal, fabricating a wide variety of objects which include gate, firepits, lighting, garden adornments, furniture and large scale public art. These artists thrive on challenging themselves and pushing the limits further with each job.

Their faculty is used by a local private school as their “theatre.” Lani Wong is the marketing person, she is acting in the next show “Abraham Lincolns Big Gay Dance Party” and she was the model for the photos on the City Lights Theatre Company brochure for 2010-2011 season. This artist has been working with wood in his art for over 40 years. As a teenager, he was a boat builder in the 1950’s in the San Francisco Bay Area. When he started a traditional College in the 1950’s one of his professors said, “you do not need to be here” and helped him get into a famous art school in New York. While in New York, he learned from other artists and was given free passes to local art galleries. He moved back to the Bay Area and is known for his sustainable art pieces. He works with architects, interior designers, or custom builders for clients who want something truly unique, and is known for large scale custom relief carving, Craftsman, and Victorian restoration work, one of a kind furniture.
