http://www.licknriff.com - Even you non-classical oriented guitarists will have fun with this one. Remember: Every fingerstyle pattern, every piece you learn takes you to the next level and improves your playing. So have fun with this one by Beethoven, even if you're not into classical guitar. It's a hoot! ;)

This should be familiar to most (Beethoven - Ode To Joy). Thanks to working with Jason I've been able to take things I've learned and apply it to something we're doing at church right now. A month ago I would of just played the melody, now it's a little more 'full'. It's novice I know, but I'm proud of it regardless.
Old Speckled Hen beer fan Jonathan Vincent has created a mini bottle orchestra to celebrate the his favourite brew, creating his own unique version of Beethovens famous Ode to Joy. After putting together the instrument in his shed, Jonathan sent his amateur footage to Greene King. The brewers of Old Speckled Hen liked it so much that they offered to film the performance professionally. Dubbed Ode to Hen by the beer enthusiast, the professional performance is delivered by a tuxedo clad Jonathan and musician pal Graham Mann on 35 bottles and 24 pints of cask beer with various amounts of the ale in each designed to create a pitch perfect sound.

Macedonian movie "Ritam i Zvuk" from 1955
In the superb Macedonian countryside filmed in colour, men and women plant rice, harvest with peace and joy. A vibrant ode to nature rings out. The commentary emphatically praises the simple joys of a life punctuated by the seasons and dances passed down through the history of the Macedonian people. Each traditional dance is performed with beauty and precision. The clarinet, mandolin and violin lead the women's farandoles and the men's circle dances.

(To the tune Ode to Joy)
We are full-time freelance writers.
What we love is being free!
We don't need no stinkin' office!
We don't need security!
Every day of freelance writing
Brings a different kind of joy!
And it keeps our families doubting
That we're actually employed.
Every morning we give thanks
We're not commuting with the mob.
We don't worry that we could get
Fired for napping on the job.
But if one day all those employees
Lost their jobs one thing is true:
One day later they'd be saying
They had all "gone freelance," too.
We are never sure if we will
Make a profit or a loss,
But we can't be terminated
Just for flipping off the boss.
Benefits are hard to come by,
And the money's not enough,
But our treasure is the endless
Joy of working in the buff.

I recorded this on my CD, "The Gift", all Christmas Carols except for "Ode To Joy". This arrangement is slightly different and of course it's a video. Every time I play this I think of The Beatles and "Help".
Ode to Joy is a 1968 music education film that explains how the rhythm and appreciation of music is natural and progressive. The film places music in a relevant historical and cultural perspective. The film includes footage of children playing instruments, attending live concerts, operas, and ballets.
