Most people might assume that technology first developed in 1928 would be obsolete by now. But from air conditioned buildings to sliced bread, many inventions of that era are still essential to our lives today. That includes the exercise stress test, which is still the most widely used medical test for coronary artery disease. “Even though they’ve been around for nearly a century, they can not only tell us if you currently have heart disease, but can also predict your risk for it in the future,” said Martha Gulati, MD, of The Ohio State University’s Wexner Medical Center. “By today’s standards these tests may seem low-tech, but they can be highly effective and very efficient in diagnosing heart problems.” Doctor Gulati has co-authored a paper in the journal Current Problems in Cardiology, touting the benefits of exercise stress tests, particularly in this age of high-tech medicine. Today, using things like nuclear heart scans, MRIs and CT imaging, doctors can see inside the body like never before, peering deep into the heart with remarkable clarity. But just because those tests are available, doesn’t always make them the right choice.

http://www.conqueringcancerbook.com/ There are many alternative ways that can treat pancreatic cancer. The late Steve Jobs used an alternative method to help fight his cancer for years. This video discusses a study in which one method can help. In mid-2004, Jobs announced to his employees that he had been diagnosed with a cancerous tumor in his pancreas.[106] The prognosis for pancreatic cancer is usually very poor; Jobs, however, stated that he had a rare, far less aggressive type known as islet cell neuroendocrine tumor.[106] Jobs resisted his doctors' recommendations for evidence-based medical intervention for nine months,[107] instead consuming a special alternative medicine diet to thwart the disease, before eventually undergoing a pancreaticoduodenectomy (or "Whipple procedure") in July 2004 that appeared to successfully remove the tumor.[108][109] Jobs apparently did not require nor receive chemotherapy or radiation therapy.[106][110] During Jobs's absence, Timothy D. Cook, head of worldwide sales and operations at Apple, ran the company.[106] In early August 2006, Jobs delivered the keynote for Apple's annual Worldwide Developers Conference. His "thin, almost gaunt" appearance and unusually "listless" delivery,[111][112] together with his choice to delegate significant portions of his keynote to other presenters, inspired a flurry of media and Internet speculation about his health.[113] In contrast, according to an Ars Technica journal report, WWDC attendees who saw Jobs in person said he "looked fine".[114] Following the keynote, an Apple spokesperson said that "Steve's health is robust."[115] Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Jobs Powered By: http://www.WillsComputers.com

Today Nico has made a long journey across metropolitan Manila to visit Dr. Bundoc at the Philippine General Hospital. Its his first time to visit the Prosthetics & Orthotics Clinic and his first meeting with the Dr. He does not know what to expect from the time a few months ahead when he will be admitted as a patient and fitted with his own artificial limbs. This is Nico's window onto a future life. One that hopefully will mean greater mobility and independence. The last time we saw Nico he was 12. now he is 15 going on 16 and his body is heavier, his ability to move around has slowed down and due to the nature of his condition there is extra physical pressure on his knees causing him pain and discomfort. There is uncertainty for Nico. Without knees it is unknown how much mobility the new prosthesis will provide him.
