The year 2015 is 70th anniversary of the end of World War II.
This 2-part experimental montage film is dedicated to that historical event. There is no spoken word in it.
It is made mainly from public domain newsreels, public domain Soviet films of 1930's and US official propaganda films produced from second half of 1930's to mid 1940's.
("Universal News", "Aerograd", documentary series "Why We Fight" etc.)

Hairspray is a 2007 American musical film based on the 2002 Broadway musical of the same name, which in turn was based on John Waters's 1988 comedy film of the same name. Set in 1962 Baltimore, Maryland, the film follows the "pleasantly plump" teenager Tracy Turnblad as she pursues stardom as a dancer on a local TV show and rallies against racial segregation. Adapted from both Waters' 1988 script and Thomas Meehan and Mark O'Donnell's book for the stage musical by screenwriter Leslie Dixon, the 2007 film version of Hairspray is directed and choreographed by Adam Shankman. Hairspray features songs from the Broadway musical written by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman, as well as four new Shaiman/Wittman compositions not present in the original Broadway version. Opening to critical acclaim, Hairspray met with financial success, breaking the record for biggest sales at opening weekend for a movie musical,[4] which the film held until July 2008 when it was surpassed by Mamma Mia![5] and later High School Musical 3: Senior Year in October.[6] Hairspray went on to become the sixth highest grossing musical film in US cinema history, behind the film adaptations of Grease, Chicago, and Mamma Mia!,[5] and stands as one of the most critically and commercially successful musical films of the last decade. Available in a variety of formats, Hairspray's Region 1 home video release took place on November 20, 2007.[7] USA Network purchased the broadcast rights to Hairspray and was scheduled to debut the film on cable television in February 2010, but in the end it did not broadcast that month, instead the film was pushed back and premiered on USA on July 24, 2010, with sister channel Bravo also showing it multiple times, and in February 2011 aired on ABC for over-the-air broadcasts
In which we get to revel in the interconnectedness of things, because the number of links this act has to other bands and and happenings I've seen over the past year is quite substantial. A very fitting way to end both the evening, and the very strange year I've had.
The story of the promising, underground Seattle band, The Gits. Fronted by charismatic vocalist, Mia Zapata, and poised to explode onto the national music scene, a stranger came in and took it all away. A decade later, the legacy lives on. ( The first time Matt Dresdner heard Mia Zapata sing, he knew she was destined to front the punk rock group he dreamt of forming. In the fall of 1986, at Ohio's Antioch College, Dresdner, Andrew Kessler, Steve Moriarty, and Zapata became The Gits. In 1989, they relocated to Seattle, WA, in search of a new life and a larger audience. The Gits quickly gained popularity in the Seattle music scene of the early 1990s, distinguishing themselves with their soulful street punk at a time when "grunge" was putting Seattle on the map. Characterized by powerful, driving music and Zapata's poetic lyrics, major record labels took notice. But just as The Gits were poised to explode onto the national music scene, an unfathomable tragedy struck. On July 7, 1993, Mia Zapata was raped and murdered in Seattle while walking home one night. Without warning, this promising band faced a horrific end and the fabric that built this tight knit music community began to unravel. In 2003, one year into filming "The Gits" documentary, a swab of saliva DNA left on Zapata's body solved the ten-year mystery which still haunted her friends, family, and fans since the day of her death so long ago. This film celebrates the band's enduring musical legacy while embracing the soul of the legendary Mia Zapata and the love that so many hold in their hearts for a band that continues to touch lives.) AKA The Gits: The Band The Music The Legacy (2008)
"Tito and Me" is a 1992 Yugoslavian comedy film. The film was made during one of the most difficult periods in the history of the Balkans, at a time when conflict broke out and the civil war began in Socialistic Republic of Croatia. Its quirky humor has marked the beginning of the end of Socialistic Yugoslavia. The movie is set in the communist ruled Yugoslavia during the 1950s. It celebrates, but in some aspects it also criticizes The Yugoslav State in the early fifties. Zoran is a slightly overweight 10-year-old living in an overcrowded home that his parents share with his grandmother, aunt and uncle. So, conflicts at home are inevitable. This is a story of a ten year-old boy who, as most of the children in Yugoslavia of the fifties, can hardly imagine his everyday life without the great national leader - Marshal Tito of Yugoslavia. Well, this chubby little boy might be a little more obsessed with Tito than other kids. He unexpectedly wins the first price for the literary composition on the given topic "Do I love Tito, and why?" The boy was inspired to write a poem and his reward is the participation in a march to Tito's Homeland. He claims in his work that he loves Tito even more than his parents, which makes them desperate. He does not understand what is so confusing and weird in his love towards the inviolable Yugoslav leader. This march will be a difficult temptation for him. Since he is a plump kid, for the first time separated from his caring family, and since he is forced to care for himself for the first time in his life, and not being used for a long hike, this march becomes a living hell for him. In addition, during the march, his best girl-friend falls in love with another, older boy. And it seems his teacher (a man who is there march-leader) doesn't like him.

Grab some popcorn, this epic three hour collection of ancient Counter-Strike flashmovies will bring you back to the dark ages of the internet. This is a collection of old Counter-Strike flashes from the year 2000-2003. The flashes were taken from several sites, such as CStoons, CSnation, CScentral, CSbanana and Newgrounds (Don't hate me, Tom Fulp). Making this compilation together with my own animations took me about 1 1/2 weeks of non-stop work. I take no credit for any of the flashes inside the collection. The only things I created myself were: Intro, Outro, Credits and a new explosion. The other stuff I did though was massive editing, resyncing of sound and converting. See below for additional info. I made some modifications to the following parts: -RzE introduction video: I added music to this flash, as it had no sound what so ever. -Casino scene: I added new sound effects to the CT part, as it had almost no sound. -Counter-Tom: Cut the super-annoying, overly long shooting sequence down to a minimum. -The "Live Well" flash had a convertion problem, I tried to fix it but it's much slower than it should be. (EDIT: This flash is broken, it's completely black. Probably another video conversion problem) -I added a new handmade explosion effect for RzE's dance. (It was previously a flashbang effect, eventhough the grenade said HE on it) -RzE Jeepathon2k: I replaced the hamster dance music at the end of the flash with a new sound that fits the situation better. -CS school: Added coughing in one part to the almost silent flash. -CS punchout: Added an old computer (ATARI ST) loading sound.

NYC-based alternative, pop rock band Frealane released their debut music video "Never Too Late" recently through their Youtube channel 1frealane to immediate critical and commercial attention. The irresistibly powerful, catchy song launches the new band onto the spotlight in a spectacular way. The music video serves as the classic introduction to an up and coming rock band ready to burst into the scene. With low, close-up shots of each band member rocking out in their respective instrument, the video is reminiscent of classic indie rock MVs we see so little of today. Dressed in gorgeous dresses and seductive make-up, the lead singer entices the viewer with her grace and confidence. The video is primarily shot in two locations, each showcasing a different mood. A juxtaposition of the darker, gothic environment with the lighter, more innocent look can be seen. Carrying a tinge of alternative metal, the single is a wonderful amalgam of alternative and hard rock. The lead singer's soulful, laid back vocals demonstrates range and the ability to appear both strong and servered. Frealane is pop/rock trio consisting of Andrea Dee on keyboards and vocal, Coque on lead guitar, and Brian Tully on bass. The band members hail from different corners of the world, with each bringing a different flavor to their music. The band has performed in popular venues like the Bitter End for the past year and quickly gained prominence in the music scene.
Stroke affects nearly 800,000 Americans each year. That means, on average,a stroke occurs every 40 seconds. High blood pressure is the number one risk factor for stroke, and it’s a condition that can easily be controlled. Program faculty will discuss ways to do this, as well as provide information about the American Heart Association’s Power to End Stroke and Million Hearts Campaigns.

A historic match played in Sydney by a touring Suva combine schools U14 side vs Hills Grammar ( Kenthurst, Sydney) . The tourists, captained by robust Roko Wilisoni Malani, overwhelmed Hills scoring 63 to nil. Suva was fortunate to have been given a game by Hills as 3 other schools could not come to the field because of the busy schedule normally associated with end of year period. Future tours should also consider playing against club teams which are made up of players from various schools.

Welcome to 2013! Our first release for the new year. This time it's a labour of love, being the beautiful Nadia Ali's vocals again. This one starts out dark and deep and nasty sounding, sweetens up with vocals and then turns more uplifting. With Must be the Love having been already given the once-over by not exactly unknown BT and Arty, we take the piano solo sections and loop them in places on the KORG, while running no less than 3 decks for the majority of our remix. The pace is picked up by around 1:39 and onto the change at 2, then again as the huge and epic bassline drops towards the end. This track will have legs for quite some time :)
Our studio re-dub took over 3 weeks and includes more than 700 working files. A lot of sampling and looping was needed to raise the intensity of the track, and there's always a lot of room to move within Nadia Ali's awesome vocal range.

Brindisi is an old roman port in Puglia, at the heel of Italy. In fact it still has a column marking the end of the Appian way. During Roman times Puglia used to be the major wine producer of the empire. Today it is still the major wine producer in Italy hosting some ambitious wine producers .like the Rubino's. Luigi Rubino showcases his 3 best wines with interesting food pairing at the restaurant Penny in Brindisi. Penny is an old favorite in town housed in a 12th century building and serving some of the most authentic local dishes prepared by Chef cosimo Orfano . The wines Negroamaro Red, Malvasia Giancola and Torre Testa have all unique characteristics given Puglia's 1000 hours more sun than any other region of Italy. Torre Testa is made from a grape called Susumaniello which came from Dalmatia in the 7th century bc. It is exclusively cultivated in Puglia and only in the Brindisi area. The Rubino Estate produces 800,000 bottles a year with 70 % of the production exported to 20 countries.
http://www.thejakartaglobe.com/business/economic-crisis-casts-shadow-over-biodiversity-talks/551489 The global economic crisis cast its shadow over UN talks that closed in India on Saturday after two weeks of intense wrangling on funding to reverse the decline of Earth’s natural resources. A deal was finally signed a day later than planned, after a succession of late-night sessions that pitted rich countries reticent to fork out more cash as they try to balance the books, against poor ones. Several traditional donor countries cited the world’s economic troubles as a factor in the talks, held under the auspices of the UN’s Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD). “Countries like us in difficult financial times are making big sacrifices with taxpayers’ money. We want to make sure... that we are not leaving ourselves open to putting greater burden on our taxpayers,” British Environment Minister Richard Benyon told AFP on the penultimate day of the negotiations. In the end, the deadlock was broken and developed states pledged to double by 2015 the aid they provide to poor countries for biodiversity projects, compared to a baseline of average annual aid in the period 2006-2010. No figures were mentioned, but observer groups believed the new annual figure would amount to about $10 billion (8 billion euros) per year — just 10 percent of what global consumers spent on chocolate last year. Some negotiators, especially in the European Union, hailed the deal as a symbolic breakthrough in tough times. “In the context of the financial crisis, this is a good deal,” French Environment Minister Delphine Batho told AFP.

The Russian president, Vladimir Putin has issued a speech at the annual assembly of the Russian Armed Forces. He states that the designs will be used only for purposes of defending the homeland and securing its citizens, he emphasized that Russia does not want to take part in armed conflict however it has the capacity to defend itself and its allies. The parade that took place outside Moscow showcased many prototypes which will be distributed in mass into service by the end of the year. The main reasons behind this weapons upgrade, as explained by Mr. Putin is to boost the moral of the armed forces and give each unit greater preparedness for an armed confrontation.

http:/*****ly/PYOKlc - Noah's Ark in South Korea (full story) It started to rain yesterday evening.. and it rained.. and it rained.. and it rained. I was awaken at around 3:00 AM to find the windows in the master bedroom were leaking. Actually, it was more than just a leak, it was a constant flow of water pouring in through my windows. My wife and I began to take remedial actions to contain the flow. We got towels and started soaking up the waters. We pulled the bed away from the windows so that we didn't end up in a pool of water by morning. The leak was finally contained and we went back to sleep. However, it's still raining.. It's monsoon season in South Korea. During this period, which runs from late June to early September, there can be heavy rain showers and flooding across the country. The picture in this post is the result of last year's monsoons, which caused severe flooding in Seoul.
