It is impossible to geometrize the Sakharov model with a constant velocity of light. This must be infinite at the time of the Big Bang. The arrow of time then becomes zero and then reverses. The initial singularity is suppressed and replaced by a structure which is shown to have an elliptic geometry. The question of time around the Big Bang becomes meaningless and chronology is identified with entropy.

Recorded on October 12, Aleister Crowley's birthday, this episode of The Popular Podcast introduces a new perspective on the philosophies Jessica and I have been studying and disseminating since the spring. Our friend, Todd Barnard, sponsored this episode on Thelema in order that we shall take note that the religion has been in practice since the turn of the 20th century. We were so grateful to get to explore this concept as both of us were yearning for new perspectives on what we were learning.
Todd also asked us to discuss the tenants of Thelema in relationship to the predictability of the technological singularity. Todds hypothesis is that the singularity will be imminent when most people are already practicing the tenants of Thelema. We disagree.

Ray Kurzweil tells us about his vision of the Singuarlityâa point around 2045 when computers will acquire full-blown artificial intelligence and technology will infuse itself with biology. His theories have all sorts of supporters, detractors, and critics, but do you even remember what life was like before three-year-olds had cell phones and you actually had to remember facts instead of relying on the internet? That was only 10 years ago. If Kurzweil is right, we'll have supercomputers more powerful than every human brain on the planet combined within a few decades.

Your Metal Brain marries two of my favorite things -- weird Japanese things (in this case, Shinya Tsukamoto's "Tetsuo: The Iron Man") and the coming technology Singularity. You couldn't tell it from the film, but I'm looking forward to the Singularity. Nonetheless, I'm still a bit . . . fearful!
