This is the first talking Little Rascals film, released in 1929. The sound was recorded on Vitaphone disc, separate from the film itself, and shipped to theaters in two parts, the Vitaphone record discs to be played concurrently with the silent film. It was three reels long - the longest Little Rascals film to date. It was rarely seen on television due to its long length.
The transition to sound was awkward - lots of loud noises, shouting of dialogue to be sure the mike picked up the sound, and long periods of barren track with just the pops and scratches of the disc itself. This is because at this time, the films themselves had no "scores", or music under the dialogue. For Hal Roach, this would come later, in 1930.
Just for fun, I have added original LeRoy Shield music to this film, making the long periods of silence a little less awkward. Note the original title card "Hal Roach Present His Rascals Voices"!
In perfect alignment with our episode earlier today about getting feeling good and then taking inspired action, we just returned from a spontaneous jaunt through a carnival of delight followed by quality time spent with loved ones. We planned to take a long walk this evening, perhaps to the east side. It worked out perfectly that Joy called in the afternoon to invite us over to chill. Appreciating the contrast, we notice a definite difference in how effortless our journey seemed tonight compared to our struggle last night emmake/em something happen. We floated 7.5 milesâ manifesting soundtracks, freakish characters Shell stations with Polar Pops, Wendys, and garbage cans along the way. We let the inspiration, source energy, God, whatever you want to call it, flow through us and did about 1,000,000,000,000,000,000 (wo)man-hours worth of work. Thanks Universe!

The mystery surrounding the disappearance of a North Central Florida paranormal investigation team may soon be solved.
A production company in Florida with specialized equipment has been contracted to attempt to restore the teamâs mangled footage which was discovered earlier this year by a vacationing couple.
The missing team, known collectively as âFlorida HAUNTSâ, still has a presence on the web at FloridaHaunts.com, but it is unknown whether or not anyone is still actively maintaining the site.
Sources indicate that the restoration project is proceeding slowly. According to Jim Mathers, the chief engineer working on the project, âItâs been painstaking work, but we expect to have the rest of the footage cleaned up as best we can pretty soon. It was quite a mess so even with our best efforts, there may still be some snow and static pops here and there. But thereâs enough to disturb you. In fact, weâre a bit concerned about releasing it.â
The initial clips of footage that have been released thus far are a record of the teamâs last case which they apparently took on in hopes of helping a desperate client in spite of the teamâs misgivings due to unusual circumstances surrounding the case.
