Women compete for 1 million yen (about US$9,000) in eating contests around Japan to determine the final winner. This video shows one contest involving udon (thick Japanese noodles). The regional winner won after eating 22 bowls of the noodles, about 4.4 kilograms in total, or 9.7 pounds. That's a lot of noodles in one sitting of 45 minutes.
