West of the castle, just 1 km away, there is another famous sight of Milan, Santa Maria delle Grazie church. It is a beautiful, very well preserved 15th century building, but the fame of this church comes from what is treasured inside: this is where Leonardo da Vinci painted his The Last Supper, and this is where it is still visible on the wall of the old monastery’s dining hall. The painting underwent several damages due to the partial destruction of the Dominican monastery and it is in overall bad conditions of conservation, because of the innovative technique it was made with, not suited for the moist climate within the monastery. Nevertheless, it is still considered one of Leonardo da Vinci’s masterpieces and one of his most interesting and meaningful paintings.

H.E. Garchen Rinpoche: Amitabha Empowerment Date & Time: March 8th, 2014, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM Location: Sakya Monastery, Seattle, WA Root Texts and Thangka for the teaching can be downloaded here: http://www.drikungseattle.com/march-texts.html About the Teachings: According to the supplication by Drikung Kagyu Seattle disciples, H.E. Garchen Rinpoche kindly agreed to visit the center again in 2014 and graciously offered to teach for two consecutive weekends. Rinpoche will grant the Amitabha empowerment and Phowa instructions as well the Shitro empowerment and Bardo teachings. Finally, Rinpoche will offer the White Tara long-life empowerment. Even though practitioners of the modern day do wish to practice the Dharma, they are busy and do not have sufficient time. The Buddha taught countless Dharmas with great love according to the needs of diverse sentient beings. Je Marpa Lotsawa said: "All others have instructions that lead to enlightenment if one meditates. But I have an instruction that will lead to enlightenment without meditation." Thus, we are extremely fortunate to receive the instructions on Phowa, a practice that does not require long periods of meditation, from H.E. Garchen Rinpoche, for these instructions will place a powerful imprint into our minds. Even if we are not able to train in Phowa perfectly throughout our lives, the mental imprints of these instructions will be of tremendous benefit to us at the time of death. Whether or not we wish to die, or are powerful, smart, rich or poor, we are all bound to die sooner or later. The Shitro empowerment, then, introduces us to the true nature of our body and elements. The Bardo instructions explain the nature of the visions that will appear to us during the Bardo state after death. Tsar (Russian: Царь) is a 2009 Russian drama film directed by Pavel Lungin. It competed in the Un Certain Regard section at the 2009 Cannes Film Festival.
In 16th-century Russia in the grip of chaos, Ivan the Terrible strongly believes he is vested with a holy mission. Believing he can understand and interpret the signs, he sees the Last Judgment approaching. He establishes absolute power, cruelly destroying anyone who gets in his way. During this reign of terror, Philip, the superior of the monastery on the Solovetsky Islands, a great scholar and Ivan's close friend, dares to oppose the sovereign's mystical tyranny. What follows is a clash between two completely opposite visions of the world, smashing morality and justice, God and men. A grand-scale film with excellent leading roles by Mamonov and Yankovsky. An allegory of Stalinist Russia.
