Even as NASCAR celebrates a huge milestone with Jimmie Johnson's third consecutive Sprint Cup win, the car racing organization is tightening their belts due to the sagging US economy. NASCAR met with the crew chiefs from all the racing teams to announce a no testing policy that will be implemented next season in order to save millions of dollars. All tracks that have NASCAR races will be included in the testing ban, though teams can test on non-NASCAR tracks. Testing gives teams valuable data on new cars at every cup track, and the new policy is a big change from an earlier plan in the season to increase testing to 24 sessions per team. But Pat Tryson, Kyle Busch's crew chief stated that “It has pluses and minuses. Times are tough right now, so it's probably not that bad a thing for most people. It's the same for everybody. It may make the racing better with nobody having the opportunity to test.” Either way, the change will end up saving big money... some teams spend more than 3 million ...
GM’s OnStar today announced a significant milestone for in-vehicle safety and emergency medical response. Over the course of the past 12 years, its Automatic Crash Response technology has aided subscribers and others on the nation’s roadways in more than 100,000 crash incidents. The ability of OnStar to pinpoint the GPS location of the crash and convey to emergency responders the magnitude of the incident has assisted in the dispatch of the appropriate level of response from emergency service personnel.
OnStar’s crash response capabilities have evolved significantly over the past 12 years. The enhancements to the service now allow the technology to provide real-time data about the type and severity of the crash to OnStar’s dedicated emergency team. OnStar advisors relay this crash data, including the number, direction and severity of impacts, airbag deployment, and rollover information to the appropriate 911 emergency call center.

It's ironic that amidst waves of bank employee layoffs, talent retention would be a concern among merging financial institutions. But keeping top talent is a key piece of the synergy puzzle for Bank of America Corp., J.P. Morgan Chase & Co., Barclays plc and other acquiring banks. In this edition of Inside The Deal, Jess Varughese, a managing partner of the financial services consulting firm Milestone, tells The Deal's Suzanne Stevens that even in these challenging times, banks will have to work hard to keep the most productive bankers from leaving.

Cecil and I had so much fun covering the worldwide Guiness Book of World Records challenge--Thriller Dance in Hollywood, California.
We created this 8 and a half minute video featuring over 100 dancers all dressed as zombies to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the release of the Thriller video. Even though the original release date was December 2, 1983, it is fun to celebrate this music video milestone a little early so to collaborate with Halloween because both represent all that is fun and scary.
A VERY Close Look At Piper's Most Exciting Aircraft Program Yet

Over 30,000 Homebuilders Gotta Be Up To Something...
This year's rendition of the Annual Oshkosh Aerial Love-Fest was a watershed event for all things homebuilding. In addition to the usual assortment of THOUSANDS of amazing personally-crafted experimental aircraft in attendance, the 30,000th such bird was found and celebrated.
Yuma, AZ homebuilder Bob Noll's RV-9A airplane was recognized as the honorary 30,000th US-registered homebuilt at a ceremony at AirVenture 2008. Standing on stage with his daughter Katrina who came to AirVenture with him, acting FAA Administrator Bobby Sturgell, FAA Associate Administrator for Aviation Safety Nick Sabatini, EAA President Tom Poberezny and EAA Founder Paul Poberezny were on hand to recognize the milestone of 30,000 homebuilt airplanes registered.
Paul Poberezny was asked how he felt about the milestone after 55 years since he founded EAA. His answer, "unbelievable, simply unbelievable." to which he gave a thumbs up. EAA Founder Paul Poberezny commented ...
Master arranger Mike Abene talks about his collaboration with Joe Lovano on "Symphonica."
For his 20th Blue Note album, Joe Lovano delivers a milestone recording, "Symphonica," a bold and beautiful orchestral project recorded largely in concert with the WDR Radio Big Band and Orchestra from Cologne, Germany, with the music arranged and conducted by Michael Abene, the musical director of the big band. The album marks the first time in Lovano's career that he has recorded an entire album with a full symphony. Additionally, all the music consists of Lovano compositions save for one piece (Charles Mingus' âDuke Ellington's Sound of Love" where Lovano sustains his tenor saxophone lines to hover over the haunting melody). In that sense, "Symphonica" stands as a full-sound, best-of collection that traces the breadth and plumbs the depth of Lovano's career.

Subtitled version of Jean Rouch's fundamental classic of visual anthropology "Les maîtres fous" ("The mad masters"), 1955.
This documentary shows how a possession ritual helps people to deal with the shock of colonialism in Ghana (Africa). This milestone in cultural anthropology, often seen as Jean Rouch's masterpiece, shocked its first spectators for numerous reasons. Some of them feared the image of "savagery" displayed during this somewhat violent ritual. Some others were hurt by the representations of the colonial power that are explicited by these "spirits" through their theatralisation. Rouch's technical approach of ethnographical filming (the "cine-transe") was also quite a revolution at a time where anthropological film-makers still tended to believe in the objectivity of static and distant shoots.

Milestone birthdays, children, marriage, and advice from friends or relatives top the list of reasons why Americans begin saving for retirement. According to the 2008 AXA Retirement Scope Survey, turning 40 is the number one life trigger for most to start saving. Today's working Americans note more factors prompting their decision to save than past generations of retirees.
The survey also reports that people realize it's up to the individual to plan for their retirement. Social Security and the government is something that most people can't rely on to provide a significant portion of their retirement income. When it comes to retirement planning figuring out what to do, how to do it and when to do it can be confusing and a working with a professional advisor or planner is key.
Many are also retiring later than they used to, an average of 64 years of age. Coupled with living longer, experts say there's no reason to wait for a major life event to start planning retirement.

One of World’s Biggest Pet Parades Marks 15-Year Milestone
Thousands of Costumed Pets to Take to the Streets to Help Homeless Animals
One of the world’s biggest pet parades is still going strong, and the “pawty” just gets better and better. More than 8,000 pets and 80,000 people in Mardi Gras-inspired costumes line the streets of St. Louis’ very own French Quarter to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Beggin’ Strips Barkus Pet Parade.
It’s not Mardi Gras without a coronation as pets dressed to impress strut their stuff to win the titles of ‘King’ and ‘Queen’ of the parade. Herds of dachshunds, packs of pugs and troops of terriers show off collaborative efforts for the brand new group title of ‘Most Loyal Subjects.’
In the end, every pet walks away a winner. All parade registration fees benefit homeless animals at a local no-kill animal shelter.
The Punjabi Fun Mela was a milestone project organized by young Thai-Indians.
Their intention was 'royal', grand yet simple, a noble attempt to pool money for a charitable cause towards the Red Cross and His Majesty's Royal Patronage, and simultaneously get together families for a fun day of carnival-style games and indian, punjabi cultural-esc performances.
Yet what goes on behind the scenes and beyond it is a different matter. I'd rather describe the actual event day as the tip of the iceberg upon several icebergs. Although due to the extremely HOT day that it turned out to be, tip of the dormant volcano sounds better. Nonetheless, we all deserve a cheer for the unanimous success, touchwood.
For my part, my work starts when their's have ended. And here we are, a heartily compiled video trailer and some scenes from the event, and ofcourse, more to follow.
Many regards,
Manik Sethisuwan.
