'Warrior' by Verbal Linguist (song@1:00) http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/warrior/id555109926?i=555109928 Original Prod. by Platinum Sellers Beats (Song contains sample of Masai Tribal chant) Contact: Verblinguist@gmail.com https://www.facebook.com/VerbLinguist http://soundcloud.com/verblinguist http://beverbal.tumblr.com/ http://www.reverbnation.com/verballinguist "This song was written as a testament to the 'can-do', 'never give up' spirit that lies within us all. I think that it is within the essence of what it means to be human! We are all warriors, we are all survivors, in different stages of development. The goal here was to capture this visually. You may notice that there is an obvious Native American concept going on here, we deliberately chose people of various ethnic backgrounds (although not All were represented) in order to show that in 2012 we are all native and belonging to the one tribe which is humanity. Everything from the African Masai shaman doing the call and response chant in the sample, the Om symbol which appears throughout the video, the Native man in full dress doing a meditation by the fire, and the Melungeon woman in the 'warrior goddess' yoga pose toward the end...all these things were a direct manifestation and visual representation of one thought.... to get in tune with one's spiritual essence regardless of what your belief or practice may be. It is truly time to ignite the 'Warrior' essence in us all and get right. Peace to you all. I hope you enjoy this video as much as I do and check out some of my other stuff. This is what I'm coming with! Not just real hip-hop music, but real music period! With meaning and most importantly, always with soul. Namaste." - Verbal Linguist

Just another mile in The Olympic Music Maratone ! This is basically an experimental Bi-Lingual-Version sung simultaneously in two languages (English and Greek). Before we do the Five-Language-Version, we thought well first try out the Two-Language-Version for which we have the lyrics. Katharina Machlelis did a fine job of translating the original English-Lyrics of The Olympic Song CELEBRATE HUMANITY into Greek. The translation sounds just right and has the same grandeur of the the original English lyrics, befitting the Olympic Spirit. We are planning to have the lyrics translated into atleast 5 languages and apart from individual language versions, well definitely make a Multi-Lingual-Version where the singing will be in several languages, sung simultaneously. Imagine you are in an international airport or in a truely cosmopolitan city where you would hear different languages spoken, all at once. If your are a multi-linguist , your would understand what we are trying to achieve. We just want to and will make this Multi-Lingual-Version and see where our experiment will take us to. Please listen to this Bi-Lingual-Version and enjoy the music and the lyrics ! Just for you, we are publishing here, the full lyrics in English and will also publish the Greek lyrics as soon as we have this on our lap-top ! And thats a promise
The images in this music-slide-video are from Dieter. B. Kapp. He is also the sole Copyright holder for all the photographs os Indian Landscapes used in this slide. He shot these images during his stay in India (Ooty, Kerala, Mysore, Goa). Dieter is an artist, musician, photographer, indologist, linguist, philosopher and humanist. Dieter has composed more than sixty musical pieces for piano. Check out his website www.citrakala.com I have used my own composition âÂÂJourney Oneâ in this video, using Dietersô images of India. The music genre is âÂÂIndo-Flamenco-Guitar-PercussionâÂÂ. The melody is influenced by âÂÂRaagasâÂÂ, the classical Indian music and the Flamenco guitar playing. Itôs like a âÂÂjourney on the routes to the rootsâÂÂ. In this composition I have played the guitar and the percussion simultaneously (like they do in flamenco). Enjoy this. Cheers!

Canada - 1992 - 168 mn | Réalisation : Mark ACHBAR et Peter WINTONICK | Manufacturing Consent is a documentary film that explores the political life and ideas of Noam Chomsky, a linguist, intellectual, and political activist. Created by two Canadian independent filmmakers, it expands on the ideas of Chomsky's earlier book, Manufacturing Consent: The Political Economy of the Mass Media, which he co-wrote with Edward S. Herman. The film presents and illustrates Chomsky's and Herman's propaganda model, the thesis that corporate media, as profit-driven institutions, tend to serve and further the agendas of the interests of dominant, elite groups in the society. | http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Noam_Chomsky | http://www.chomsky.info | http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manufacturing_Consent:_Noam_Chomsky_and_the_Media

Background: I was finishing the rug made of the clothes my wife and I wore when we wooed and fell in love 13 years ago, and as she was in the hospital, and the rug celebrates our love and marriage, I lugged the huge rug down on the L and bus to finish with her.
When I was doing it, she wanted me to explain how you finish a color band row or solid color row, and as I had the camera along to take stills of her with the rug anyway, I recorded my final stitches and tieing off of the rug while explaining it to her and answering her questions.
The lighting gives a spooky or film noir overtone, but I think the video is made better by my wife's interaction, as while a brilliant linguist and utter genius, she's just started doing this craft.

At the beginning of this film, a young girl is trying to complete her frustrating grammar homework and falls asleep. In her dream, two characters from Alice in Wonderland join her in her frustrations of learning about the usage of words. The three characters join together in their dislike of grammar and they plot to destroy words. While they are plotting, Dr. Linguist, a language scientist, tries to explain to the young girl and her friends why words are important. He explained to them that thousands of languages have existed in the history of the world and they all stem from one common language. Dr. Linguist continues by explaining that different technologies have been created to help scientists and others understand language. After teaching these concepts to the young girl and her friends, Dr. Linguist has succeeded in helping them comprehend the importance of language and words.
